Description:
This Sylvaner is a pleasant fresh white wine. The colour ranges from pale yellow to greenish. This wine has a fresh, fruity nose and reminiscents of fresh hay. The flavor presents hints of gooseberry and peach. The name supplement "Hautnah" refers to the fermentation of whole grapes, close to the skin (peel).

Grape variety:
Sylvaner - Alto Adige Weinberg Dolomiten IGT.

Production area:
Feldthurns in the central Eisack Valley in South Tyrol, on a sunny mountainous slope.

Vinification:
Maceration for approx. 14 days on the mash, aged for 12 months in the oak cask.

Matching:
Sylvaner is an ideal accompaniment to an aperitif or to asparagus and fish dishes.

Serving temperature:
10 - 12°C.

Ageing potential:
more than 8 years.

In Velturno, just above Chiusa, there is Tenuta Garlider with a breathtaking view of the Valle Isarco and the imposing South Tyrolean mountains. Christian Kerschbaumer manages the estate here with his parents, his wife Veronika and their children and grows five excellent white and one red grape varieties on an area of 4 hectares, the only Pinot Noir in the South Tyrolean Isarco Valley. Kerschbaumer's philosophy is to preserve the characteristics of the vine and the soil in the wine and to falsify it as little as possible. For this he has switched to organic cultivation and in his cellar he mainly uses native yeasts. The vineyards are located on favorable and steep slopes on the southern side of the valley. Soil conditions with a mixture of sand, gravel and claite have a beneficial effect on the quality of the grapes.
