Fresh, slightly fruity wine, pleasant citrus notes, reminiscent of anise and green apple, short finish, racy acidity. Enjoyed on hot summer days, the Blaterle refreshes like a cool mountain breeze. 

Grape variety: 
Blaterle unfiltered - South Tyrol White wine - The name probably comes from the shape of the berries. On the 50-year-old vines thrive the large flattened green berries. It was 50 years ago one of the most important white wine varieties in the lower Valle Isarco. 

Production area: 
The Rielinger has planted 0.2ha with Blaterle at 700m a.s.l. On the steep southern slope at the foot of Renon with deep morainic soils, which consist of sandy loam and the topsoil of the Bolzano porphyry plate, grow fruity mineral wines. This characteristic is typical of the lower Valle Isarco to which also the cultivation area belongs. 

Vinification: 
They want to preserve an old variety with this wine and thus have a niche product in the assortment. In the vineyard the yield is reduced (7000kg / ha) to achieve a very good quality. This white wine is fermented 100% on the mash to give it more structure and independence. The malolactic fermentation takes place in tonneaux made of acacia wood, where it is stored again for 12 months.

Winery Rielinger BIO 
Wine has always been grown at the Rielinger estate. The Rielingerhof already produced wine in the Middle Ages for the nobility of the nearby castle "Castel Stein", today a ruin. An ancient grape press found on the grounds of the winery and now to be seen in the tasting room, provides evidence for the historical significance of wine making. The family Messner has been cultivating wine for three generations now. While part of the harvest was brought to a cooperative winery in the past, since 2011 the entire wine production is run and marketed directly at the farm. Thus, they can offer their guests a product grown, refined and aged on the farm. The challenge is of course to achieve a very high quality in the vineyard as well as in the cellar. Now they are member of the South Tyrolean Independent Winegrowers since 2011. Furthermor, the family had been thinking about organic production for a long time. After some updatings and advanced trainings on the subject of organic viticulture and discussions with like-minded farmers, they decided in 2015 to join the Bioland Association.
