Description:
Colour: Ruby-red. Nose: Fruity aroma reminiscent of cherries and red berries. Taste: Complex, elegant, full-bodied. In order to meet the criteria for the Pinot Nero Riserva, a vine must be at least ten years old and come from excellent vineyard sites. Pinot Nero Riserva is aged at least two years in the cellar before it goes on sale. The result is a spicy and elegant wine that need not fear comparison on an international level.

Production area:
Vineyards in Eppan, Kaltern and Pinzon (350 - 550m). Exposure: Southwest, southeast. Soil: Moraine debris and limestone gravel.
Vinification:
Fermentation in stainless-steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and about 12 months of development, partially in barrique-tonneau (70%) and partially in large wooden barrels. After assemblage, further maturation takes place in oak barrels.
Food pairing:
Ideally paired with cooked beef, wild fowl, rabbit or roasted goose. Also excellent with hard cheeses.
Serving temperature:
14 - 16°C.
Ageing potential:
more than 8 years.

With the founding of the Cantina Produttori San Michele Appiano in 1907, an eventful success story began, and today the name stands for great wines and extraordinary quality. The 330 members of the cooperative winery work their vineyards in harmony with nature, and the secret to their success is the combination of decades of experience and constantly striving for perfection. The unique terroir, the respectful dealing with the grapes, and careful processing guarantee unique wines filled with character. In particular, the vineyards in and around Appiano offer the ideal conditions for varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Yellow Muscat, and Pinot Noir.
But for well-structures red wines, outstanding small vineyards are found at lower elevations and along the Wine Route. The mild and sunny climate forms the basis for the unique quality of the wines.
