Description:
The harmonious, soft tannins on the palate and its dark garnet red colour are the main characteristics of this indigenous red wine. With its intense and complex bouquet and fresh perfume of wild berries and violets.

Production area:
The property of the Villa Karneid, in Salorno, is one of the most traditional grape growing towns of Alto Adige. The favorable location of the vineyard, and the outstanding conditions in this area assures excellent qualities. Deep limestone and clay soils with sedimentary and alluvial as well as sandy content.
Vinification:
The grapes are destemmed and fermented at a constant temperature of 26 - 28°C for about 10 days in stainless steel tanks. During fermentation the must is kept in contact with the skins through circulation pumping. In this way, we achieve ideal results with the colouring from the skins and emphasize the fruitiness of the wine. After two entle rackings the wine goes into barrique barrels for 10 months.
Matching:
The Lagrein is ideal for red meats and roasts.
Serving temperature:
18 - 20°C.

more than 5 years.

The Castelfeder Estate Winery was founded in Egna more than 50 years ago by Alfons Giovanett, but since that time, hardly anything has remained the same. “The product line has been expanded, production has increased, the processes in the winery have been modernized, and the market has become more international,” says Günther Giovanett, who took over the estate from his father Alfons and runs it with his children Ivan and Ines. Today, the Castelfeder Estate Winery encompasses 65 hectares, on which 70 percent is planted with white wine varieties.“The focus is on Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc,” Giovanett explains. With the red wines, the concentration is on Pinot Noir.
